Summary
CleanDeck scans and classifies locally on your Mac. We don't collect your local files, track app usage, or sell personal data. The website processes only the account, purchase, session, and delivery data needed to sell and deliver CleanDeck.
Optional Google Drive Integration (in development — not in the current release)
This section describes an integration currently in development and under Google's verification process; it is not enabled in the current public release. When available, Google Drive access will be optional and will begin only when you explicitly connect your Google account and approve the requested permission. CleanDeck requests the read-only Google Drive metadata scope (drive.metadata.readonly).
- Data accessed: file and folder IDs, names, MIME types, parent relationships, sizes, modification times, checksums when Google provides them, web-view links, and storage quota information.
- How it is used: CleanDeck processes this metadata locally to calculate storage usage, build a folder map, show large files, identify metadata-based duplicate signals, and open the corresponding Google Drive review page at your request.
- What CleanDeck cannot do: it does not download Google Drive file contents and cannot create, edit, upload, share, move, or delete Google Drive files.
- Storage and sharing: OAuth tokens are encrypted using macOS secure storage. Google Drive metadata and analysis results remain on your Mac; they are not sent to CleanDeck servers, sold, or shared with third parties.
- Your control: you can disconnect Google Drive in CleanDeck and revoke access in your Google Account at any time.
CleanDeck's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Our Privacy Principle
CleanDeck is built on a fundamental principle: scanning, classification, and cleaning stay on your Mac. The app does not require a CleanDeck account and does not collect telemetry or usage data by default. Separately, cleandeck.app processes limited account and purchase data when you sign in or buy a license, as described below.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- File names, file contents, or directory structures on your Mac
- Screenshots, clipboard data, or keystroke information
- Browsing history, search queries, or application usage
- Personal documents, photos, messages, or emails
- Passwords, credentials, SSH keys, or API tokens
- Hardware identifiers or device fingerprints for tracking purposes
Data We May Collect
- License key validation: when you activate CleanDeck, your license key is verified with our licensing provider (Lemon Squeezy). No personal file data is transmitted during this process.
- Support correspondence: if you contact us via email, we retain your email address and message content solely to provide support.
Website Accounts & Purchases
- Google sign-in (identity only): when you sign in on cleandeck.app with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. Sign-in never touches your files or your Drive.
- Account records: we store your account, orders, license keys, and download grants so your purchase works across sign-ins.
- Payments: purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Your payment details go to Lemon Squeezy — we never receive your card number.
- Session: a signed session cookie keeps you logged in on this website. See the Cookie Policy for details.
Data Storage & Security
CleanDeck stores scan results, action history, and configuration in standard per-user application-data locations on your Mac. macOS file permissions protect this data, and the app does not upload it to CleanDeck servers.
Third-Party Services
CleanDeck does not use advertising networks, social-media trackers, or analytics platforms. Google provides website sign-in and hosted fonts, Lemon Squeezy processes purchases as merchant of record, and Cloudflare hosts the website, API, account database, and licensed downloads. We do not sell or rent personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information.
